Next Day Air

They’re advertising Next Day Air like the stupidest film ever made.  All the posters look like they airbrushed old “Soul Plane” posters and left a stack of them in densely populated black and latino neighborhoods.

But after reading up about it and watching the trailer, it’s really just a fun mix-up comedy.  Not really that different from the Snatch and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels of the world.  It’s really lame that studios think it has to be advertised “urban” because most of the cast isn’t white.

I’d like to take this chance to describe the posters for some of my favorite films if there had been two or more black people in the starring cast:

Back to the Future:

Marty would have cornrows, and he’d be smiling so he could show his grill that spells out “Coming Soon!”  The DeLorean would be a Chevy Impala.  Also there’d be a group of staunchy/uppity white people (probably with monocles and pearls) chasing him.  Xzibit would be Doc.

The Dark Knight:

Batman would have his hands by the sides of his head in a “I don’t know/ It’s a living” type gesture.  Alfred would be using the fiery building  in the back to light a blunt.  He has a “caught” look on his face.  The Joker, played by one of the cast members of The Wire, is looking disapprovingly at his thugs who are staring lecherously at two black women and one white woman with huge butts.

The Incredibles:

Mr. Incredible, voiced by Xzibit,  would have a look on his face to say “I’m getting too old for this shit.” Mrs. Incredible is using her stretch power to make her butt bigger. Dash would have cornrows, unless he was surprised by something, then it instantly puffs into an afro. Violet is using her power to keep a Poindexter looking white guy at bay.  She’s doing her make-up with the other hand.  She is voiced by one of the twins from the mid 90’s sitcom “Sister Sister”.  The baby, Jack-Jack, would still be named Jack-Jack.

Pineapple Express:

See “How High” Poster.
