I love you.

LCD Soundsystem played their last show last night at Madison Square Garden.  Me and my friend Vicky went.

I’m not really gonna go into detail about the show, there are blogs dedicated to it and Pitchfork has an in depth look history of the band.  I just wanted to say it was really amazing, a very unique experience, and most importantly, it was FUN.

It really made me look at concerts in a different way.  It made me so sad that this was my first and last time doing this.  But that’s how it should be! Concerts are supposed to be something that you can’t replicate.  Why the fuck go to one if not?  Everything about the show felt so “one time only”.  By the end when they played “New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down” I was holding back tears.  I felt like a preschooler watching his parents leave after dropping him off: “Wait! Don’t leave! I don’t know what to do when you’re not around!  You’re never not around!”  Ugh. So dope. And sad.

The sincerity is what made LCD Soundsystem really dope to me.  There’s no half-ass.  No one’s “cool.”  They like stuff.  They’re really particular and hardworking.  Everyone’s always talking about how they hate shit.  Cause if you say you like something, it makes you a little weaker cause people can attack that. So, as I look at it, LCD Soundsystem are super brave.  One of the braver bands ever, especially since they were around when irony and sadness about the state of the world is pretty high.

LCD is the greatest. James Murphy is a genius.  We should all feel extremely lucky we were all alive when he/LCD Soundsystem was alive.
